Development of a new and environmental friendly techology for denitrification based on autotrophic anaerobic oxidation.

The main objective of this project is to develop a new and innovative environmental technology for nitrogen removal based on the anaerobic oxidation process of  ammonia. The process will be suitable for the treatment of effluents with high nitrogen content and low in organic matter in wastewater treatment plants (WWTP).

Once the expected objectives are achieved, Valoriza Agua would have developed a new nitrogen removal technology, distinguished by the reduction of sludge production and energetic consumption during the process comparing to the conventional one.

DENITOX project is founded by the Center for the Industrial Technological Development (CDTI, Spanish short name) and cofounded by the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA Grants) inside of the Science and Environment Technology and Climate Change program. To accomplish the project, Valoriza Agua collaborates with the Research Group MITA (Microbiology and Environmental Techniques) of the University of Granada and the Norwegian Research Center Vestforsk.
